28th Alumni Day – Alumni Meet 2022

MVJ College of Engineering has organized the Alumni Meet a program to facilitate, consolidate and coordinate Alumni Activities on 28^th August 2022 (Sunday) in Amphitheatre. The alumni meet is conducted every year in order to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. The Alumni started arriving in college by 10.00 a.m. and they were received by the registration team and from where they went on a campus tour and revisited the familiar place where they had studied and were shown the various developments that had taken place since then

The Alumni Meet started with carnatic song, sung by Mr.Pradipta Kumar Jena, first year student of Department of Computer Science Engineering. The host of the event, Mr. Ranen ,Department of CSE invited the Chief Guest, Mr. Subhadip Sarkar,( Alumnus of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Class of 1999) Vice President, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, to occupy the dais

Our Principal Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa, welcomed chief guest with a bouquet and also welcomed all the alumni for responding to the invitation from college and being present for the alumni meet inspite of their busy schedule. He then proceeded with presenting the college report highlighting Alumni Meet-2022 28th August 2022 the various milestones reached in the past year and he briefed out the achievements of faculty and students. The report provided a detailed insight into the various steps taken by the institute for the development of students, faculty and the College, by way of Industry Collaborations, Clubs & Forums, Guest Lectures etc. He spoke about how MVJ College of Engineering has been the winner of National Aerospace Conceptual Design Competition consecutively for five years from 2017-18 to 2020-22.He spoke about first offline and 3rd TEDxMVJCE program organized at MVJ College of Engineering.

The Chief Guest Mr. Subhadip Sarkar, (Class of 1999) an alumnus from the Mechanical Department, is the Vice President of Cognizant Technology Solutions. He began his address by thanking everyone for the opportunity. He went down his memory lane and shared in detail about his life spent in the campus of MVJ College of Engineering. Mr. Subhadip Sarkar insisted on introducing technology law and IPR in the curriculum and emphasized on how important it is for them in future. He also spoke on how job opportunity can be created by the Alumni. Mr Sarkar said how important it is for the students to make mistakes and learn from it, and spoke how the coming generation must be taught to overcome failures. He expressed his delight in the development of the institution and requested all alumni to give a standing ovation to Principal and faculty member of the institution.

After the address given by Chief Guest to lighten up the mood a standup comedy was performed by Mr.Sai Aswin from, Team Raaghabhinaya, the Theatre and Production Club of MVJCE. Later on, a few Alumni were called up on stage to share their memories about the college life with the gathering, under the head “Reminiscence”. Mr. Venugopal Rao Chatakondu,Class of 1991,Department of Civil Engineering, Ms.Manjula,Class of 1997,Department of Computer Science, Mr.Amey Kulkarni, Class of 2017, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mr. S V K Reddy, Class of 1990,Department of Civil Engineering shared their memories of the golden era. They spoke about the struggle during their college days and applauded the growth of the college. Mr. S V K Reddy who is Chief Executive Officer, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh is in charge of Inland waterway transport, showed his interest in helping students to understand the importance and future prospect of Inland waterways

After that nostalgic segment, dance club of MVJCE , Nithyatrix gave an amazing dance performance. Dance was followed by a panel discussion on”Role of Alumni for Development of Institute”. Panelists included Mr. Himanshu Mishra, (Class of 2017, ISE Department), Mr. Bejoy John (Class of 2007, ECE Department), Mr. Sreedhar Saraswathi (Class of 1991,ME Department) and Mr. Ranjan Sathish (Class of 1990,CSE Department). Moderator of the event was second year student Ms. Krithi of CSE department. Various points were put forward by the Alumni during the discussion which included

During the panel discussion alumni shared their memory and also appreciated the growth college has achieved in the short span of time. Mr.Sreedhar Saraswathi compared the institute infrastructure to be close to that of Howard University he visited.

The event proceeded further, with the distribution of Distinguished Alumni Awards & Appreciation Awards for the year 2022.

TEDxMVJCE 2022 was held on 30^th July, 2022, at M. V. Jayaraman Auditorium which was a grand success because of the immense effort put by the students.A token of appreciation was given to the Tedex organizer. Chief Guest Shri Subhadip Sarkar, Mr.Satyendra Singh (Class of 1987, Department of ECE), Head & consultant of Techno India and Principal Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa gave away the certificates to the Tedex Organizer.

Ms. Radhika Prabhu (Alumnus of Department of IEM, Class of 1997) Delivery Manager, CGI was called upon to give away the certificate and cash prize of rupees fifteen thousand to Mr. Atyab Hakeem from Aeronautical Engg., Mr. D. Devasurya from Aeronautical Engg.,Mr. Piyush Jha from Aerospace Engg. And Mr.Asim Syed from Aerospace Engg. for winning second place at NACDEC 5.

Finally a ‘Token of Honour’ was presented to the Chief Guest Mr. Subhadip Sarkar by Principal Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa. The Alumni Meet concluded with Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Shima Ramesh, Alumni Coordinator. She thanked the Alumni for taking the time to come for the Alumni Meet who have made it a very special and memorable one. She thanked the various organizers of the event (teaching, non-teaching staff and the enthusiastic student volunteers) whose hard work and dedication made the event possible. She also thanked the management of MVJCE for the support and guidance which has made Alumni Meet 2022 a grand success. The Alumni meet concluded with a group photo session.

Outcome:

The Alumni got an opportunity to interact with the faculty and to share their views. The Meet certainly enhanced the bonding between Alumni, Faculty and Institution
