The Department of Information Science and Engineering, along with IQAC, MVJCE, organized Phase-III of the AICTE-Sponsored Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) on ‘Research Challenges and Emerging Trends in Ontology and Data Science for Deep Learning’, from 1st March to 6th March, 2021. The purpose of this short-term training program was to enhance the skill set and knowledge of the Faculty members, Research Scholars, and Industry professionals in areas like Bigdata, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Ontology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. 72 participants from various organizations registered for the programme.
The Phase-III of the STTP was inaugurated by Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE, on 1st March 2021. On behalf of the Management and the Institution, the Principal welcomed all the participants and Resource Speakers to the Short-term Training Programme (STTP) on ‘Research Challenges and Emerging Trends in Ontology and Data Science for Deep Learning’. In his welcome address, he pointed out how Ontology is closely connected with various thrust areas like Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Data Science etc.
The Chief Guest Dr. L Venkata Subramaniam, IBM Master Inventor, Quantum Ambassador and AI Neuro-Symbolic Sub-Theme Lead at IBM, gave a keynote speech on ‘Deep Thinking’.
Dr. M A Jabbar, Professor & HoD, AI&ML, Vardhaman College of Engineering, Hyderabad, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Data Mining using Weka and Orange’. He discussed the following topics:
In the second session, Dr. Munesh Chandra Trivedi, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, NIT Agartala, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Social Network Analysis for Big Data’. During his lecture, he dealt with the following topics:
The following day, Dr. Charuladha Krishnamurthy, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, Pondicherry Engineering College, spoke on the following topics during her talk on Ontology.
The second session of Day 2 was handled by Dr. V Uma, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, Pondicherry University. She took up the following topics during her talk on ‘Ontology and Automation’:
On Day 3, Dr. Hari Prabhat Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT BHU, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Bigdata Analytic’. He discussed the following topics:
Mr. D Sai Natarajan, Developer, Duratech Solutions, dwelt on the following topics, with reference to AI and Automation:
The following day, Dr. K Sashi, Lead & Developer, Duratech Solutions, gave a lecture on the topic ‘Machine Learning for Industrial Consultancy’. During her lecture, she dealt extensively on the following topics:
Dr. Millie Pant, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Science and Engineering, IIT Roorkee, handled this session and spoke on ‘Data Science - The Emerging Trend’. During her lecture, she touched upon the following topics:
Mr. K Sankar, Chief Data Scientist, Eagle Software India Pvt. Ltd., handled this session on ‘Bigdata in Industry’ and covered the following areas:
Dr. Nageswara Guptha M, Division Chair Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Senior Associate Professor SCSE, VIT Bhopal University, hosted the second session for the day, on the topic ‘Natural Language Processing for Bigdata’. During his lecture the following areas were discussed:
Dr. Hema MS, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, Anurag University, Hyderabad, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Deep Learning: Basics and Algorithms’. She elaborated on the following areas:
The final session was on ‘Research Challenges in Deep Learning', by Dr. Nageswara Guptha M, Division Chair Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Senior Associate Professor SCSE, VIT Bhopal University. During his talk, he elaborated on the following topics:
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Sanchari Saha, HOD, Dept. of ISE, MVJCE. At the end of the program, a test was conducted for the participants, and certificates were distributed.
The STTP provided inputs to the participants on various research domains which will enhance their ability to work in interdisciplinary areas. It will boost their research ability and also enhance their confidence to contribute in Seminars / Conferences / Workshops, as Resource Persons.
