The UAV Club, MVJCE, in association with the Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering Department of MVJCE, organized a Two-day Workshopon ‘UAV Construction’, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, on 13th and 14th January 2023.
30 students from the 1st and 3rd semester of Various departments of MVJCE, attended this Workshop, enthusiastically. Prof.TamilselvamNallusamy organized the event, along with the organizing committee comprising Karthik Reddy (President of the UAV Club), AnimishaAlagappa (Technical team), SahilNirala (Technical team), MahalingaSwamy (Technical Head), Gayathri P (Event Management Head), DivyanshuChaubey (Club Member), Hitesh (Club Member), Jagadeesh (Club Member) and Karthik (Club Member).
The UAV Club of MVJCE organised this two-day Workshop to impart insights into the construction of drones, in order to enhance the skills and capabilities of the students in the field of UAV. The Workshop was structured to make the students understand the basics of UAV with the help of presentations. They learnt about the components used, the construction of drones, the basics of piloting a UAV and post-flight analysis.
Gayathri P set the event in motion by welcoming the honourable Principal of MVJCE, Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa and Head of the Department of Aeronautical and Aerospace, Dr.Arunagiri P. She enlightened the gathering about the history of the UAV Club of MVJCE. The honourable Principal addressed the gathering and spoke about the history of drones and their evolution with time. Prof.TamilselvamNallusamy thanked the management of MVJCE for permitting the Club to organize this Workshop.
Ms. AnimishaAlagappa explained about the basics of drones, including their aerodynamics and propulsion aspects. She then dealt with the components that are used to make drones and their functions. After this, Mr. SahilNirala, also part of the Technical Team, explained about the avionics components used in drones and the construction of drones. A video was presented, to help the students understand about the different types of drones. Mr. MahalingaSwamy addressed the gathering on the application of drones, with the help of a video.
Once the basic explanations were done, the participants were divided into five groups. One student Mentor was assigned to each group, to help the students throughout the construction process. Every team got a Drone Kit to complete the construction process. The construction of drones was carried out by the teams, on both days of the Workshop.
An RC simulator training session was conducted by the UAV Club members, to impart basic knowledge of flying to the participants. After the construction of the drones, the teams got the opportunity to learn piloting from their respective mentors. All the teams flew their drones, successfully.
Vast knowledge was imparted to the students by the UAV Club of MVJCE. The students got motivated in the area of UAVs. They understood about the practices and methods that are followed to construct drones. They got a brief knowledge of piloting, too.
